The Bakers

I slowly opened my eyes as the sun rose from the horizon and gleamed in through my window. Carefully, I sat up and let out a quiet yawn not wanting to wake up any of my four siblings who also had beds in the room and tiptoed barefoot out of the room. My name is Emma Jane Baker. I am 10 years old and have seven siblings. The main thing you need to know about me is that I absolutely positively love baking as well as listening to stories about the king and the queen and other marvelous adventures which others have taken.

Every morning I have the same routine: I wake up, get dressed and make everyone breakfast. For the drinks at breakfast I pore four glasses of ale and four glasses of wine.  Then for the meal I bake two loaves of bread, heat some meat, and set out a block of cheese. Due to our prominent wealth I am also serving anchovies and wine with the breakfast meal.

As everyone starts waking up, they slowly wander into the kitchen and sit down on the wood benches. One by one we all take our seats and a few peasant girls serve us our meal.
Mass will take place after the meal. As well as finding time today to finish my spinning and get a pot of brew started.

After breakfast my father went straight to the bakery to bake bread and cakes for the fair. He will sell these later at the marketplace. Plus sometimes he will let us help decorate the cakes once he is finished baking them. We decorate them with berries and sometimes make cool designs on them.

One of the extras of being a baker's daughter is you get a wonderful last name. But as well as that you get to eat the extras and help in the kitchen whether it's baking or cleaning. What I am most interested about is the trades he does and what people pay him. Once I saw John Chick traded him a chicken and two eggs. But I have got to say the weirdest trade he has ever done that I have heard of was with the midwife. She traded him my sister Alice’s birth for two loaves of bread one cake and three eggs.

Two of my brothers Michel and Frank. Michel age 13 and Frank age 15 leave for their jobs every morning as well but they leave after my father does. Michel works up at the palace as one of the stable boys he gets paid one penny a week which is a lot for a stable boy. On the other hand Frank works for John Chick on his farm, and he said his favorite animal there is porkchop the pig. I have even meet him before he is very fat and extremely slow, but still very cute.

Almost every day my mother teaches my four sisters two who are just babies, my one younger brother, and I how to prepare food, spin and brew stew. It may sound boring, but it can be fun once you get started.

When my father and two brother get home from work  I always get them a glass of beer no water though because it is very dirty. Nobody drinks water in this town just beer, wine, ale. I prefer wine because it tastes like grapes and beer is to bubblie. No one in our family drinks ale though, it does not taste as good as beer and wine.

To finish of my day I eat salmon, and bread. Then I say my prayers and put on my woolen gown then help my younger siblings get theirs on and put them into their beds and wish them a good night. Finally I crawl into my bed close my eyes and dream.

The Outsiders

Dally: “…Crazy for wanting Johnny to stay outa trouble, for not wantin’ him to get hard.  If he’d been like me he’d never have been in this mess.  If he’d got smart like me he’d never have run into that church.  That’s what you get for helpin’ people.  Editorials in the paper and a lot of trouble… You’d better wise up, Pony… you get tough like me and you don’t get hurt.  You look out for yourself and nothin’ can touch you…”
Johnny: “Stay gold.”

These two quotes are alike because Johnny is telling Ponyboy to stay nice and sweet and care about other. But Dally is telling him that he should be like him and he won't get hurt. But Dally is hurting because the only thing he cared about was Johnny and Johnny just got taken away from him. And I bet if Johnny was still alive Dally wouldn't have said that. So Dally is Just saying that because he is hurting and being the tough guy he is he doesn't want to show it. So Dally is basically saying caring can hurt but is is still something everyone does. Johnny is saying to always care for others. Dally is saying caring can hurt but everyone does it. So they are both saying that caring can be good and everyone does it.

Practice

"The next two weeks passed by in a whirlwind." Melody practiced with the team every day. The other members of the team are Conner (a now it all), Claire (Snobby), and Rose (her friend). The alternates are Amanda, Molly, Elena, Rodney. Tow of them being in fifth and the other two being in sixth, she knows Rodney and Molly because they are in her class.

The  Results

In Out of My Mind I am still in the rising action. I am right now reading about the Wiz Kids test which they are about to get the results back.

Melody has done it again. She has shocked everyone. The whole class was shocked, the teacher was shocked even Rose was shocked. But Melody wasn't shocked. She was so excited she had a tornado. A tornado is when Melody gets so excited or frustrated, that her armes and legs go in every direction.

The Quiz

It's Here

It's Monday a chilly one but it's Monday. It's finally the day for the wiz kids tryouts. So far in her day she has spilled tomato soup on herself being so excited about the tryouts after school. But it is finally time Catherine wheeled Melody into the room

It must have been so nerve racking to do that be the only girl with disabilities to probably ever tryout for the wiz kids team. It's almost like she has been studying for this her whole life.

The test has started there has only been 10 question asked out of 100 questions. Time goes by and more questions get answered there are so many they only tell us the first 4 and the hundredth question. They now have to wait till tomorrow morning to find out who got on the team.

Fun but blood

I could feel the cold coming on. A breeze blew across my face as a bolted down the slop. Julia at my side with her dad way ahead. He was so fast almost like a winter Olympic athlete.

I could smell the pine trees as I zoomed past them watching the hill get steeper and steeper. Over and over we did the same course. Just me Julia and her dad. The course was rated blue witch mean more difficult. What we did was first take Sunset Boulevard and a little bite before half way we would switch over to Trailblazer. We took Mt. Judah Express to get up there. It was our favorite one because it had a lot of jumps in it that where so thrilling to go on.

Julia, me, then Jeff jumped of the ski lift and prepared for an other awesome run. Julia and I disided that this time we where going to do all the jumps. It was going to be exilerating but scary at the same time but that makes it exciting. I heard the slice break Julia was ready to go I was ready to go. There we where both ready with Jeff getting ready to bolt out of there and down the mountain.

We where of Julia and I racing down the icy slop. I could feel snow hit my face it felt like there was no gravity but sadly there was. I was in the are when I realized it was a long drop. My skis flew every where I had landed in the cold wet snow. But I had to addmite it was pretty amazing. After she magnificently landed the first jump she helped me up.I was a little rusty after all, the snow isn't always hear.

After that I stared to get the hang of it I was landing each one but still sometimes landing on my butt. We where half way down the courses I disided not to do anymore jumps and just speed down the mountain. I mean if I was a car all the cops would be on me but, let's be realistic. As I slowed down I realized that Julia was doing all the jumps and boy was it taking a while Jeff was already there when I stoped. So now all we needed was Julia.

In the far of distance I could see hear jumping them all one after another. She finically coute up was in the are on the last jump when BOOOMMM! She hit the ground. Jeff and I being already down the hill asked if she was ok. But as I looked up I new not for long.

We yelled and screamed for him to stop as a snowboarder reached the ramp. Julia who must have been frightened stuck here skiing poles in the air, showing she was there being to late though the snowboarder was in the air. Are you ok we asked as we rushed over to the wonded man. He seemed upset, and as he looked up hi hands where covered in blood. As I helped unharmed Julia out from under the ramp Jeff asked if  he wanted us to help him or bring him to the first aid tent. He stubbornly got up and walked away.

I could still smell the fresh pine and the birds where chirping. It was still a nice day and I wasn't going to wast it. Once we had finished that course my uncole Norm took us on a black diamond it was so fun we went on almost all the courses.

We finished the day with a nice cup of hot chocolate. There was nothing I could ask for. Other then that one horrible but fun and funny insedent. I mean he could have been more pulite and not have said some bad word in front of 10 year old. It would have been the greatest day in the snow. I had one of my best friend my whole family an aunt and uncle and my nana and papa it probably was the most fun I had in months I hope I could go do it again tomorrow. But I guess I have to wait till next winter. Leaving my last day of snow with a fun note. And remembering that nothing always goes how you plane.
